restrictor plates are a thin, square aluminum piece with four holes thats restricts the air flow from the carburetor to the engine, which results in less horsepower and a reduction in speed. they are 1/8 of an inch in thickness and range in hole size from 3/4 of an inch to 1-1/2 inch. it is only used at the two largest super speedways, Daytona and Talladega. NASCAR distributes the plates to the teams during the race weekend, collects them after every on-track activity every day and after the conclusion of the event. the version of the restrictor plate has been in use since 1989

It means a track where they use restrictor plates. The only 2 tracks that use them are Daytona & Talledega. Restrictor plates have 4 smaller holes in them to restrict the airflow going to the carburator cutting the horsepower in half to reduce the speed of the cars for safety reasons. Otherwise these cars would be going upwards of 200 mph easily. Can you imagine a crash at those speeds? The cars would be airborne. The problem is it makes for a more boring race. The cars line up and find it hard to pass.

    plate track.............

    daytona and talledega

    reason called a plate track

a restrictor plate is a thin piece of aluminum with four holes in it that are 7/8" in diameter.this is placed between the carburator and the intake manifold.what it does is restrict the amount of airflow from the gas into the intake manifold where they mix.what this does is drop the horsepower from around 750 to 400.therfor it slows the cars down to a safer speed.now by slowing the cars down to a safer speed it makes all the cars run in packs that can not seperate themselves, which makes plate races alot more dangerous because the # of cars in such a small space.

On superspeedways they use what is called a "restrictor plate", this means that the cars don't run wide open, because it limits the amount of air going to the carb., which reduces the horse power, which slows the car down. The plates are used at Talladega and Daytona because they are the only superspeed-

    ways that Nascar runs(I believe).

Plate races are Talladega and Daytona. There is a restrictor plate mandated for the carb to lower the horsepower to keep speeds down.

Daytona and talledega are the only two restrictor plate tracks. restrictor plates are plates placed between the intake manifold and carbeurator to restrict the flow of oxygen(air) into the manifold. They used these at these tracks because at a certain speed is considered take-off speed where the vehicle could get airborne and is considered a safety issue.

It means the track is big enough where the drivers get enough speed & straightaway to go well over 200 mph. The tracks are reffered as 'plate tracks' because of the Restrictor Plates that slow down the cars at those tracks.

Definition: A flat device with holes drilled in it designed to limit the amount of air that enters the engine. This effectively limits the horsepower of the engine and slows the cars down.

These devices are used primarily at Daytona and Talladega.

There are certain superspeedways where the cars are required to use what is called a restricter plate. It's a plate placed over the carburetor with smaller holes than normal to reduce fuel flow. This reduces the speed. Otherwise, cars would be flying aound the track at well over 200 mph, which NASCAR considers excessive.

they're appropriate. those drivers are paid tens of millions of greenbacks to push themselves and there motor vehicle to the cut back each weekend. you apart from mght would desire to evaluate the greater youthful dollars which will are available in understanding little relating to the draft and Cup automobiles and in simple terms reason wrecks out of lack of know-how. are not getting me incorrect, I hate restrictor plates, yet they're for safety. Oh, i've got already reported as quickly as, and somebody else did additionally, that Rusty Wallace examined without restrictor plate and reported that they (drivers) can not carry the automobiles on the music at those speeds. confident, in simple terms 20 mph makes a distinction. even though it could be greater like 40 mph interior the top.
