How much space should I give the man I'm madly in love with? We split up 2 weeks ago.?

We've had a tough time as he's had various work & family problems, I've had a big operation & been laid up now for 2 months. I'm hoping the reason we split is just because he needs time to catch up at work & get his head around everything that has happened. I appreciate he needs space as he has been under serious pressure but I can't bear the thought of him slipping away from me. I really want to settle down with this guy & he was talking about marriage & kids. We last spoke on Tuesday when he said he would meet me within the next 2 weeks for a drink as friends & see what happens from there. I don't want to add to his pressure by chasing him & know that will only drive him away, but I am going out of my mind here & can't eat or sleep for thinking about him. Any suggestions?

Update:

He assures me he isn't interested in anyone else. I do know he is working until after 9pm most nights & is usually in the office between 7.30 & 8.00am so I don't think he'd have time to see anyone else.

I can understand how upsetting this is for you but you really just have to back off 100%. It sounds like he couldn't have much more on his plate at the moment so you really need to give him some space, maybe text him at the end of the week saying that you hope he's well and is ready to meet up with you soon. Dont go about the fact you love and miss him - he'll know this already. Just be patient. I hope it works out for you both x

First of all, everything you've said about this guy is totally based on what you see ON THE SURFACE. You don't know anything about him. And for a woman your age I'd like to think that when it comes to relationships you'd have more SUBSTANCE aside of the guys physical attributes. You didn't say anything about how caring, loving, smart, or thoughtful he is. He doesn't even know you exist. This guy has two kids already so what makes you think you can tear him away from his family? Doesn't matter if you profess your love to him from the top of a skyscraper, the guy doesn't know you and chances are at the very least he might be flattered....but that's about it. So many single and available men out there. It's time to broaden your horizons sister!

i can imagine you are extremely hurt, but if he wants to split then you should wait for him to get in touch with you. i couldn't let go of a past relationship once, i tried to get back with him for so long and looking back now i wish i had more self respect. i know you are really upset but if he wants to get in touch he will, and maybe time apart might make him realise what he has lost. good luck. x

Give him enough space to cheat on you cause it sounds like he is trying to test the waters without losing you. If you can catch him cheating, you have your answer.
