Why is my airdried washing crunchy, I use fabric softener?

I have tried bicarbonate of soda and vinegar which was from womens weekly. I have tried different washing powders and liquids. When dried in a tumble dryer it is softer.

Don't use fabric softener if you're going to air dry your clothes. The heat from the dryer activates the fabric softener, so if you don't use the dryer, the fabric softener just makes your clothes crunchy.

No, the fabric softener makes no difference.

When you airdry laundry the tiny textile fibres sort of stick together, and dry tightened up.

When you put your laundry in the dryer, the tumbling separates and fluffs up the fibres, so they feel softer - that's all.

Personally, I think fabric softeners are a total rip off: all they do is help shed the fibres off your laundry, and towels lose their absorbent quality.

i have no idea what makes it crunchy, but mine is too. what i do is when it is completely dry, put it in the dryer on low for just a couple of minutes esp if u have a press saver cycle. it smooths it out of wrinkles, softens it and does not shrink it

PUT A TEASPOON OF SUGAR IN THE WASH WITH THE DETERGENT YOU'LL NOTICE THE SOFTNESS THIS GIVES YOUR CLOTHES.
