Kerry Wood is hurt again?

This time he fell getting out of a hot tub at home. I have been a fan of Wood since his beginnings with the Cubs. But, I'm a Cub fan first. Isn't it time to let him go if we aren't going to get a complete season out of him for all his injuries? Remember at one point last year, they told him the pain in his shoulder was in his head. Should he be traded after this last injury? (The team says he'll only be out a couple of extra days due to the fall. But, when is enough enough?)

Update:

For those unaware, Wood has already been asigned to the bullpen. That was decided before pitchers reported this week. So the question remains play him or trade him?

I think you could get something out of him in trade. I think it's unfair to call him a lower level minor leaguer.

The Cubs need to cut the cord with this guy and Prior as well. Too much money spent and very little return on their investment. Cubs need to stop waiting for something that will never develop. Look elsewhere for their future pitching staff.

It' way past the time to trade him, they wouldn't or shouldn't get much for him at this point. I believe that putting him in the starting rotation (at least right now) would be a huge risk/mistake. The Cubs need bullpen help desparately and that may very well suit Wood. The bigger question is should they trade Prior for a boatload of value or should they wait and more than likely be singing the same tune 3-5 Years from now with Prior rather than Wood.

Trading a player is easy. The hard part is getting anything in return for him. Seriously what team out there is going to give you anything for Kerry Wood? A low level minor leaguer at best. I hear this all the time where an injured player can be traded for the MVP of the league. It isn't going to happen. The cubs would be lucky to get a bag of balls for Wood and Prior. Kerry will have to stick it out and do well this year then get a big payday.

I am not sure how I feel about this issue. I am a HUGE Kerry Wood fan first of all. I also am a HUGE Cubs fan. I really think if the Cubs would give him a shot at possibly closing he might do well at it. Limited playing could be good for him. I think his starting days are over too. He just doesn't have the steam to go that many innings. Hope this helps.

yes kerry wood is done. the cubs should try to trade him off and build up their farm system. his arm was way overworked early in his career and now he is paying for it. he will be lucky if he pitches 20-25 games a year. he should also be moved to the bullpen and work shorter innings. he still has stuff its just his arm is made of glass now

I think you have a valid point. If I was in the front office I would send him to the bull pen. The Cubs have been paying this kid a lot of money from day one and they need to get some return out of him!! He would be awesome comming out of the pen!! Good luck this year!

I have no theory, i'm a huge Cubs fan and that i've got been questioning why timber and past are nevertheless on the Cubs. i think of under the older president McPhail, they continuously used that as an excuse as why they did not win. by using fact timber and past have been harm. yet now they sank somewhat some funds into him and he's in fact valueless, won't be in a position to additionally be used as commerce bait. i think of this twelve months is his final shot, and quickly he and past would be searching for jobs.
