how well do you know Iowa's labor laws?
I've been employed w/present employer for 1 yr.,1 mo.,& 2 wks., today........last month, I worked 2 days, the rest of the work days was & home w/ phenmonia, along with my 2 children, after returning back to work, was then granted a leave of absense for bi-polar issues (was hired & they knew of the bi-polar situation, etc.), was granted 2 weeks, .....or longer....
Yesterday, @ my "evaluation" mtg., I was being "scolded" for missing sooooooo many days in January.......this mtg. is continued to this am.........@ which time, I will be fired &/or walked out........or put on probation......I know this CAN NOT be FAIR labor law issues.............what's your opinion (s).......serious comebacks please.......thank you......

Well whatever you do don't walk out. Make sure you have written documentation of your pneumonia and your granted leave of abence. Federal law requires the Family medical leave act which allows up to 12 weeks off per 12 month period of time after 12 months ( you have to work for a year take 12 weeks off work 12 months take 12 weeks off you get the picture) for sever medical condition or to care for a relation ( defined as parnet step parnet, child or step child, and significate other) or if your going to be a parnet or a legal adoption. So, if you were severally ill ( mental does qualify) you must be granted this. However, in most states (including Iowa) it is at will employement. Meaning you or the company may terminate employement at any time for any or no reason. However, if you get fired for absentism save your paperwork because you can collect unemployement. Just make sure you also have something from a dr that states that you can go back to work working full time hours. Good luck to you.

Unfortunately, as in most states, an employer can terminate anyone's employment for any reason, other than for discriminatory reasons based on religion, sex, age, creed, color, sexual preferences. You should contact the Iowa Fair Labor Board and file a complaint if you feel as though you have been mistreated.

To be honest I do not know very well the labor laws of iowa .And I do not want to give any wrong information to you . My cousin used to work in Iowa and he was in a workers union . And he could take every information from them . So you can ask a labor union or something like that .
