Oh boy, you just started and already suffering from slacking attacks!?! That's bad. Well, think about it...do you want to make good money? If so, then do well in school. Do you want to work at a good job actually enjoying what you do (instead of staring at the clock every half hour)? If so, then do well in school.
On a personal note, my rule of thumb is to not slack off! I've done it in the past and had to suffer later. Also, take good notes when you read. If you don't have very good study skills (I didn't either) now is the time to learn. Find a way of studying that helps you to remember and retain information . And one more thing review, review, review, this helps because then before exam you’ll simply need to review and quiz yourself, instead of cramming. Also I just want to tell you that there are a lot of books out there for college students to help them with all kinds of problems they encounter. It ranges anywhere from bad studying habits, poor organizational skills, time management, how to handle a job and go to school at the same time, etc. etc. I read several of these books and finally pulled myself together. The ones that I found extremely helpful are written by Ron Fry. Check ‘em out, maybe they will help you.
If none of this helps maybe you should take some time off from school. Try working for awhile just to give yourself a break.
It can be very hard. I have feel motivated often, especially when you work hard and still don’t get the grades you want. But it all works out in the end.
I have feel motivated often, especially when you work hard and still don’t get the grades you want. But it all works out in the end. Be prepared to work hard..unless you're genetically a genius and ace tests by cramming the hour before. One more thing, try to resist the temptation of skipping class. It can really add up. Welcome and good luck, the fun has just begun!

Find people that are motivated and start doing work with them. That should give you a boost. Additionally because you are in your first years some of the classes may not be interesting but once you get into your major it should get a lot easier to be motivated.
