The catholic always make excuses and deny what they are really doing . they says they never worshiping an idol. but you barely see it. They twisted the verses of the bible to prove what they claim but if you read carefully and get the real sense of the verses they are given, you will see that they are lying.

And also don't be surprise that the catholic authority claim that they are of God and they follow the teaching of Christ, you know even the devil is pretend to be of God to deceive many " 2Co 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

2Co 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."

And there is also many erroneous doctrine of the Catholic church

    1. the trinity

    2. praying the rosary

    3. purgatory

    4. and many more to list

hi, a million) If this commandment, the way you convey it truly is so, then why does God contradict his own commandment at the same time as he advised the Jewish human beings to construct the Ark of The Covenant? All of those techniques seem to come back from both Islam (that forbids artwork contained in the human or religious type) or different a lengthy way correct Protestant communities the position each little thing from wondering the earth is 4 billion years previous to the actual shown actuality that guy and dinosaurs are separated by sixty 5 million years pans the Bible. 2) artwork replaced into used contained in the church homes contained in the so stated as darkish and center a at the same time as to exhibit the Bible by representation as 80% of the inhabitants replaced into illiterate. as we talk if I see a go or Jesus or Mary i know the progression from afar is a Church. If I see a neon gentle of a martini glass or topless dancer wiggling her butt then i know it truly is an evening club or strip joint. 3) what percentage who hate calling a clergyman father will turn round and kiss a decide's posterior by calling him your worship or your honour at the same time as he's about to rule on your litigation? Do you have pictures of your loved ones?

Statues and pictures of people we love are not idols.

Statues and paintings of Jesus and the saints are just like pictures of the people we love and respect.

The King James Version of the Bible states in Exodus 20:4: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth"

Why were the Jews commanded not to make graven images? Graven images were the standard method of pagan worship. They were representations of false gods.

This is a very clear command.

However God commanded the Jews in Exodus 25:18 and 1 Chronicles 28:18–19, "And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them"

And in 1 Kings chapter 7 Solomon made bulls and other images out of precious metals.

It seems obvious that the Jews did not worship the cherubims and Solomon did not worship the bulls he had made. These images did not violate the command of God. Therefore, an image not made for worship is acceptable.

In Numbers 21:8-9, "And the LORD said to Moses, "Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and if anyone who has been bitten looks at it, he will recover." Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he recovered."

And in John 3:14-15, Jesus says in correlation, "And just as Moses lifted up the [image of a] serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life."

How can a statue of our Lord Jesus Christ dead on the cross be considered an idol to a false god? A crucifix is the message of the Gospel without words held up for all to see, a visual reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus, no different from a painting, a play, or a movie.

Catholics do not worship statues but the almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

    With love in Christ.

I think I understand your meaning, you sly little fellow. You are trying to mask your homosexuality; and you call it graven images. Being on ones knees before the statue does not have to mean it is a graven image; it can be something as simple as a piece of meat. (maybe a hot dog)

You sweet thing, you go on ahead and paint anything your little heart desires. If you feel compelled to paint your boyfriend, that will be just fine. If a priest sees the painting, you can say, "Holy Mary, mother of Christ, I will kneel before your beautiful self." Then the priest will bless your little heart.

Some Protestants claim that Catholics practice idolatry. This is pure bunk. I was a Catholic, a very devout one, and I absolutely LOVED being Catholic. However, I wasn't a devout Catholic until after I was a devout Protestant. For two years I was Protestant, and believed all the lies that Protestants told about the Catholic church. Then I learned the truth and returned to Catholicism.

Catholics DO NOT PRAY TO IMAGES. They look at them as visual reminders, that's all. Pictures and statues are merely pictures and statues, they have no power, only God has power. However, they can stir in our hearts feelings of devotion, merely as a visual reminder.

Just as you have pictures of family hanging in your home or pictures of your kids in your wallet, so does the Church put pictures (statues) of Christ, Mary, Joseph and other saints in the Church. They are just plaster, marble or wood and that's all they are, but they have a specific purpose. They are there to help us to visualize who they may have been and what they have done for Christianity or the Catholic Church in some special way. When we pray at the foot of the crucified Lord we do worship that Christ on the Cross, but that Christ who died for us by walking through His passion, death and resurrection. The image on the wall or in the alcove helps us call to mind their holiness and our need for it.

    God Bless You

Your English is a bit garbled, so I assume you're asking if we worship statutes and paintings. The answer is no, we don't. That would constitute idolatry, and that is against everything that we believe.

We have statues and paintings of Christ, the Blessed Virgin, and the saints to remind us of their love for us and their intercession. That's all.

  • Idolatry is putting something before God... loving something more than you love God Himself... plain and simple. God does not like competition.

If they love these statues more than they do God Himself, then it is idolatry. However, I do not think this is the case.

Still, nearly everyone sins in that regard. Everyone has their idols. It is only through God's grace that we are forgiven, and in our faith in him that we are saved.

(I'll be the first to admit that the Catholic Faith seems to have some serious doctrinal issues. However, that doesn't matter, as every other organized religion does as well. The most important thing is that they have faith in God and in Jesus Christ.)

This question is asked at least 5 times a week.

Think of a picture of a family member in your wallet....you don't love the picture...it's just a visual to remind you of the person.

    Same concept.

For the fledgling Church, converting the pagans to Catholicism meant making some concessions. Idol worship was one of them. The "saints" are considered mediaries between God and the prayerful. This made sense to the pagans as they believed in a "creator" source god, and then their local pantheon. Just stick Jesus and Mary in and you've got the Sun god/consort and Mother goddess. Easy transition.
