What is the best day of the week to have a wedding?
I'm engaged and I'll be graduating school this May, and my b/f and I want to get married sometime relatively soon. I really want to get married on May 11th, b/c that's when we started dating. But May 11, 2007 is too soon, because I will just be graduating, so I'll have no time to plan. May 11, 2008 falls on a Sunday, though, and I don't want to wait much longer than that. Most people I know get married on Saturdays b/c it's convenient and stuff, but I was wondering if it would be possible to get married on a Sunday without too many problems/obstacles, or should I just decide on another date?
By school, I mean college, not high school. :)

If you want to get married on a Sunday, get married on a Sunday
We got married on a Friday and the grief we got was awful! BUT- we had our pics taken before the ceremony (photgrapher still made it magical for us) so we could get to the reception the same time as our guests. Everyone said that they had a great time! All of our out-of-town and out-of-the -country guests came too.
Keep in mind that if it is a Sunday, a luncheon would be probably the best reception time, and also if you want to be married in a church, you'll have to work around services. But sunday weddings happen and it will be beautiful.
Also, when you get married on Sundays, many halls and wedding services give a discount.
Best Wishes!

Saturday is the best day and most traditional day. People don't have to work on Saturdays and are more likely able to attend. I have been to a lot of Friday wedding in the past few years. I don't mind them. The hardiest part is getting there because of all the work and traffic. But, once I'm there it's nice. Friday weddings actually give you something to look forward to during the day. You know once you get there, you can have a glass of wine or champagne, and relax
If you are going to have a Friday wedding, maybe you can pick a holiday weekend in the summer. Usually when there is a 3-day weekend (say Labor or Memorial Day) many companies will have a 1/2 day of work on Friday b/c people are going away and traveling. That might be a little more convenient for people.

First, congratulations on your graduation!
As far as your wedding you can have it on any day you wish. I've done them on weekdays; in afternoons.
Saturday is the most popular & so the costs of a Saturday wedding are the most expensive. Friday is gaining on it though. And there is an increase on Thursday night weddings for some reason.
If you choose another venue other than a church Sunday will be just fine. Or you can choose a Saturday keeping church in which to have your wedding.
You can't stay out & party as late because of work the next day, and out-of-towners might find this day a bit more inconvenient .

Saturday's are the traditional day of marriage. If you choose a week day, you run into the potential problem of a soft attendance due to work and other weekday obligations. On a Sunday, you run the risk of a church not having the availability due to Sunday services and corresponding church classes. I agree, May 11, 2007 is too soon for planning purposes. My wife and I met on October 19th, but were married on October 20th. Why not marry on May 10th, 2008. Don't combine your anniversaries, start new ones.

Sunday is the perfect day to get married. It is usually cheaper since most people want their wedding on a Saturday or Friday night.
My wedding was on a Sunday in May. Actually we did an afternoon wedding, which is even cheaper. Our reception place gave us a 25% discount for picking a Sunday afternoon.
You can get a wedding planned by May 11th but it will add some stress, but you could do it.
Best wishes!

Saturday may be the best, with Fridays a close second. Sunday to me is not a good day, but if you choose to marry on that day remember some people do go to church. So a 2 or 3 o'clock wedding would work.

There is still time to put a wedding to gether for this year ( my sister-in-law) is getting married March 9th and didn't start planning until January 15th or so. You can always get married on a Friday night, a Saturday or a SUnday. But if you plan on having a big party for your reception people aren't going to want to have to take monday off work to travel, recover, etc.

you will need to check with the church because many will not do a ceremony on sunday because of the service.
Saturday is the best day for a wedding because it is most convienent for your guests. Those who must travel to the wedding, those who stay throughout the reception and any afterparties might need the next day to recoop and most people have Sunday off.
It is your day but you do have to have some consideration for your guests. If Sunday is what you want and you can find a place to have it performed on a Sunday, have it on Sunday

A friend of mine had a Friday evening wedding for several reasons. One: everyone would be finished with work and could party because they would be off the next day. Two: alot of venues will cut you a deal for a Friday wedding, because most people usually choose a Saturdays.
