Do you have any general driving tips for me? Especially have a problem with Parking?

I'm FINALLY going for my license in a few weeks, after having my Learners' Permit for FOUR years... Does anyone have pointers on how to relax a little? Another problem I need to work out before I go for the test is:

How do I determine how close I am to the gutter (kerb, for you pedants) without actually hitting the damn thing? The only chance I get to practise my parking is when I go with my driving instructor ever couple of weeks. My mum's a terrible parker, so she can't teach me, and my dad's ineligible to take me on drives.

This is a long answer but it contains helpful stuff so read it!

If you can only practice every couple weeks, with an instructor, you'll probably be good come test time. But the instructors are not realistic, they don't teach realistic driving, they teach you how to pass driving tests. You should drive around with your mom more. Like, as much as possible. If she needs to go to the store, drive her there. Driving isn't something you can be taught, you have to just do it and figure it out. My mom was so bad to drive with. She gets scared when she's not behind the wheel. So I tried to only go with my dad because when I messed up he wouldn't go nuts he'd just be like "you did this wrong" and it was a lot more relaxing.

About the curb thing, that just comes with experience. There's no way to see the curb, so you just have to use your judgment. What I can say is, you'd be surprised how close you can get, so go a bit more than you think you should.

For parallel parking first TURN ON YOUR SIGNAL! This is important because usually parallel parking happens downtown. Your signal is the sign for "I'm gonna go into this space" Turn on the signal a few cars before the space. If you just stop in the middle of the road and start reversing people will be pi**ed off and you probably won't have room and you might get cussed at and stuff. So turn on your signal a few cars before, to allow yourself space. Then pull up to the car you're gonna park behind until the side mirrors are even. Then reverse and turn into it. That part you basically have to figure out yourself based on the cars size, the size of your space, and how your vehicle handles. And remember if you're on a hill turn your wheels in a way that if your cars slips, it won't go into traffic. That would be right facing downhill, left facing uphill. Hope this helped and good luck with your test.

Here are some things to remember Never drive upset or mad.

Always leave yourself an out (try not to get boxed in)

IF you can't make an off ramp or don't see the street until the last second go to the next exit (no quick thoughtless moves)

use your turn signals. don't misuse them (put blinker on change lanes turn off blinker) leaving it on to long makes other drivers think you forgot about it.

Everyone is nervous at first its normal

About parking parallel to the curb don't let others intimidate you or try and rush you. this is how you do it: pull along side the vehicle you are parking behind you should be approx 2 feet apart and you should be looking at the driver side door cut your wheel to the right , then back up slowly watching the bumper of the vehicle your parking behind when your passenger door is even with the bumper turn the wheel back and ease on in

I have the same problem with parking. Practice is the only thing that really helps. Unfortunately there isn't much on-street parking where I live so I don't get much practice. I got one of those small wide angle mirror that attaches to your existing side mirrors. It helps a lot because you can actually see the curb.

    Good luck on your test!

maybe i'm lacking some thing, yet i do no longer fairly get what the topic is here. You seem happy once you do get tipped and you seem philosophical approximately once you do no longer. i do no longer think of you're asking to have your state regulation replaced so human beings could tip you, are you? the only subject could be in the adventure that your pizza enterprise has a NO suggestions coverage or in case you have been obliged obtainable in any suggestions you probably did get so as that they could be shared out. Does your pal save his suggestions, or does he refuse them? the two way, that is as much as him, same as that is as much as you. for my area I around up the fee so each so often the pizza guy basically gets a small volume, yet each so often he gets fairly lots. yet he continually smiles besides, and if he remains around at Christmas I provide him some extra money.

It is one of those things that require a lot of practice ask your driving instructor to just do that part for the next lesson
