Would you boycott Exxon Mobil?
I have come up with a practical solution to the problem with boycotting the Gasoline companies. As you all know there is nothing practical about not buying gas. I am sure you have seen the previous attempts to get people to boycott for one day, the problem with that is, that even if we did the Gasoline companies wouldn't care because they know you'll be back tomorrow. My solution is simple and I think can work. All we have to do is boycott one specific company, so as to start a pricing war. The company I have chosen is Exxon Mobil. What we have to do now is find out who in the U.S. (retail gas stations) sells Exxon Mobil fuel and stop buying from them! This really can work if we all chip in, All you have to do is A. not buy Exxon Mobil fuel B. Spread the word (web postings, word of mouth etc.) C. Sit back and watch the prices fall... If we put our hearts in this as a group we can be watching this story on the news by Monday..... Remember sites like You tube, Yahoo and others generate alot of buzz.... Please message me and let me know if you intend to help, so I know if I am reaching anyone....
www.exxon.com has all the info you need to find out who sells their productss.... awfully nice of them to help us I think... :)
Got to the CNN link and tell them to cover the story!

Here's the problem. Who sells Mobil/Exxon gas???
Many "C stores" buy some of their gas from Mobil.
Their buyers are constantly talking to the people at the refineries, looking for the best deal. Remember, these chains do not have their own refineries.
If Mobil/Exxon offers the best deal, that's what you will be buying.
Often I will buy Sunoco. I rarely buy from an Exxon.Mobil station, since their prices are higher than that of the convenience stores.

All you'd do is drive one company out of business. Gas would still be in as high demand as ever, you'd just be buying the same amount elsewhere. Edit: I keep getting sent the same email about boycotting Brand X in order to force the price down. it's such a specious argument, easily defeated by five seconds of critical, independent thought and five minutes of research. Same as the other one that says we should all stop buying gas for one day so the price will come down. It's a load. Everyone'll just have to buy the same amount of gas the next day. The only way to deal with the oil issue is to stop driving cars as much, use less plastic, detergent, chemical fertilisers, synthetic fabrics...and seek alternative means of energy. Until that way of thinking is embraced, you'll pay what you're told to pay.

If you boycott Exxon and buy for example only gasoline from Shell then Exxon would take their gas and sell it to Shell.
The demand for gas stays the same so if Shell runs out of gas the will have to go and look for gas and the only company that will have gas would be Exxon

Gas prices aside, ExxonMobil should be boycotted because they still refuse to pay the clean up costs for the mess from the Exxon Valdiz catastrophe and the compensation due those whose livelihood was destroyed. Yeah, I'm all for it!

Bingo, bingo, bingo, I hear you! Bit by bit, you have the right idea. It's all about control; lose control, it's over, seize control and they're gone. Problem is, we are so complacent and we must take control, company by company, bit by bit. We (the mass, i.e., the majority) are giving control to the minority, where-in the problem lies. Remember, though, it's not about about price, it's all about environment. Save the earth, respect the earth, she is our heirloom. Bless you and go forth, young man/woman.

You might be dissapointed to know that all gas stations get their gasoline from the same refineries. The production of different companies is mixed at the refineries, and I doubt if they go for your idea.

What do expect to accomplish? you are just ranting and raving about nothing. Do you understand why gas stations are building their stores, trying to get you in?, because the margins on gasoline are so small. When you grow and understand the oil market, then we can have an intelligent dabte.
