How do you convert a video file into an image file?

Update:

I'm talking about the little short clips that people put on myspace as their profile picture. Myspace won't let me upload it because it is a video instead of a photo, but I know it can be done because other people have it.

If you just want to take a screenshot...

With some videos you can simply hit the Printscreen key on your keyboard, then click the Paste button in your graphic/image editor. With some other videos (such as DVD's), the above method doesn't work. For those videos you'll need to download a program called FRAPS. Download it here...

Just open the program, then load up the video and press the F10 key when you want to take a picture.

If you want to convert a video into an animated picture, you'll need to download a program called Animation Shop, load the video file, then click Save As and select .gif. Or just click the Animation Wizard. You can download the trial version here...

    Good luck. :)

Conversion makes no sense. Do you just want one frame of the video? Do you want animated GIF? Be more specific!!!!!!
