Do I have to reinstall WinXP Home first before installing WinXP Pro Upgrade?
PC built 11/2004 - Dell Dimension 4600. Currently running WinXP Home. I plan to reformat the drive (actually installing a new drive with more capacity - from 80-GB EISA to 250-GB EISA)(not sure if my PC will support a SATA drive). I may slave in the old drive, but it is showing signs of possible problems so I am not sure if I will use it. I current run WinXP Home SP2. Do I have to reload this before installing WinXP Pro upgrade edition?
I am upgrading to WinXP Pro for better networking support. I have gone from one PC to supporting many; this machine will be my central machine and will eventually end up being replaced with a server when it is affordable and traffic picks up.

No, but if I were you and I know that my harddrive is having problems then I would just get rid of it. Hard drives a cheap now so just get a new on and get a copy of Win XP Pro. The upgrade is ok but I just feel safer when I upgrade from Home to Pro to just buy the full disk.

If it's an upgrade edition, then yes, you must have XP home installed first.
Why exactly are you upgrading to Pro? It has very few advantages over home and most people will never use the added features.

You certainly have a pirated working device....i don't understand approximately dropping records or in the adventure that your pc will close down or something yet to be on the secure ingredient, i'd make a returned up of your not basic tension (on disk) and then reformat and set up your previous valid XP...you are able to have been presented with CDs whilst to procure the pc.
