Dividend-paying companies, especially those that have the potential for some capital gains as well. Dividend reinvestment is essentially guaranteed gains. Couple that with the potential for growth, and you can reach some serious highs. My favorite right now (one which I own) is Men's Wearhouse (NYSE: MW)

I personally like Baidu.com (BIDU). It's the top Chinese language search engine. With over 50% of the market it is a secure leader in China. It doesn't pay a dividend, but that's ok, because it's still relatively new and earnings/revenues are growing at extremely impressive levels. Buying this company probably will be like buying google when it first went public.

Long term? Then go with Real Estate ( REIT's) ... Energy...and the big solid companies that pay dividends !!
Fidelity has a couple of RE funds, too. FRESX ( U.S.) and FIREX (global)...Cohen& Steers IGR ( international RE ) Capitol Trust ( CT) nice reit... AVB ( people in D.C. always have money!!)
Energy and services...RIG, SLM, BP( in trouble- buyout?) CNQ, nice friendly Canadian supply...or PWE..( 12% div besides the growth potential)
And best for last PCU ( Souther Copper) up 15 dollars since I recommended it to another question awhile back !! and paying a 10% div. ( if you are talking long term, that's what adds up!)
