Vacation in Florida (Gulf Side) need recommendations?
We had planned to stay in Naples, but we couldn't find a package based on the dates we need. What are some other gulf coast areas that are close to an airport and close to beautiful beaches?
We're taking along a 1yr old and a 5yr old.. it's the end of April/beginning of May vacation. Someplace with lots of things to do and great places to eat would be preferred.

Clearwater Beach or St. Petersburg Beach have nice accommodations and there are two airports-the small one in Clearwater and the large one in Tampa. Be careful in booking. There are hotels on the gulf that do not have a beach and hotels that have a lovely beach. There is Busch Gardens, the Florida Aquarium in Tampa, an aquarium in St. pete. Longboat Key and Siesta Key have lovely beaches and you can use the Sarasota Airport or drive 1 1/4 hours to the Tampa airport. Sometimes you can find a timeshare that rents out its apts. My cousins do that every year in Siesta Key, but there are places in Clearwater and St. Pete as well. Sometimes they sell a week's rental on ebay or you can book through the resort itself.

St Petersburg has something that gets under your skin and if you intend to discover what it is then, you should have a search with hotelbye . Nevsky Prospect is St Petersburg's principal avenue and one of many best-known streets in Russia. Chopping through the famous heart of the town, it goes from the Admiralty, mark of Russian energy, to the Alexander Nevsky Monastery and it is going to be very beautiful to walk along that street later in the day when all illuminations on. Here, you will see every thing: the absolute most stunning structure, the impressive palaces, the world-famous museums and the sparkling five-star hotels. Among the areas must see from St. Petersburg is State Hermitage Museum. The key architectural set of the Hermitage is situated in the middle of St Petersburg and consists in: Winter Palace, after the former state home of the Russian emperors, houses of the Small, Old (Great) and New Hermitages, the Hermitage Theatre and the Auxiliary House.

Try Siesta Key...it is rated one of the top 10 beaches in the US. It boasts powdery white sands, clear blue waters and gorgeous sunsets. Plenty of water activities and great places to eat. It is near Sarasota, but you could also fly into Tampa. Try Tropical Shores Beach Resort. It is right near the beach, but has decent rates.

I only been in Florida once but it was so fun. I went to St. Petersburg (close to tampa bay) but since there is a 1 yr old and a 5yr old make sure you pay close attention to them. There is these like bat rays that sting but in Fort Myers there is like billions of them and many people. There is a lot to do, like going on a tour of the bay and Jet skiing but I wouldnt do that with a one yr old

Siesta Key (south of Tampa)... White powdery sand beaches... Turtle Beach (about five miles farther south) is great for shells... Quiet and small, but nice and sweet... Check it out on your pc!!!
