Classical Ballet..16 years old...Should I bother?

I am 16 years old and before now my family couldn't afford to pay for me to take dance clases..i used to really want to dance and i still do but I just would like to know if i shoulsd even start because i would be so far behind people my age. I don't want to be in a dance company or anything i just want to have fun and become an okay dancer. Just want some opinions. Is my goal even realistic?

of course its realistic. I've been dancing off and on all my life. The reason for that is the times i didnt dance my mom couldnt afford it as well. Well now i have a job and i pay it myself and i just keep pursuin my dream. It may seem hard and unrealistic but if u perserveer through it then u will make it. Dont let the fact that u may be the oldest in a beginner's class bother u. If you push and strive u may be moved up to a more advanced class where there are more chicas ur age. Just be prepared for mucho mucho hard work! i hoped i helped u

your goal is definitly realistic. If you love to dance, and know that you have a fun time and its something you want to pursue, do it. Beginner dance classes are always really fun too, especially ballet, because there are many people in your same position. I'm 17 and I dance around my house all the time to ballet because i always wanted to be a dancer too. classes will teach you things that you can carry with you the rest of your life and use in your future, so don't give up just because of your age.

YES YES YES I say this so loud because when I was 16

I had to give up viola ,my family believed in my talent

but couldnt depend on my drive to learn, let alone afford a new

concert instrument and so on. I litterly missed it everyday of my

life, Im learning again on my own, at 35, I say that as a teenager

who has the opportunity to take it as fast as you can,and use it to its fullest, even if you dont plan yet on making it your whole world

you never know where it will lead unless you find out ,be honest with yourself too dont waste real talent and dont waste your parents trust and if it isnt for you, the sooner you know, the better

    good luck!

well for just wanting to have fun its totally realistic...

ive been dancing since i was 2 and i still have so much more to learn to be in a company so if that is what you want then it probably isnt very realistic but take classes and enjoy it

just remember that it does take time to get comfortable wiith steps so if you do get frusterated just remember to keep going because ballet is a very rewarding activity

Do it! A lot of places offer beginner level classes for teens and adults. Bring some friends, it is soooo much fun. My friends and I go to classes every Friday and it's great!

Your goal is never unrealistic, plus I think that the training will be really useful for you. That's not to say it won't be a challenge, but if you really want to, I think you should.

    You should!

You may be behind at first, but because you are older you will catch up very quickly.

Plus, its a great way to stay in shape

of course its realistic, if you stick with it and are passionate about it all else wont matter.

good luck and dont give up
