I would say no just because they haven't sustained this level of compition over a long period of time. True they won the Big Ten championship last year, but more by default then anything else. And the Big Ten is not the power confrence that it used to be. Yes it is very top heavy with Wis and OSU but after that it drops. I would say that IU is the third best team in the league, and while they'll make the tournemnt they're not a great team. Being the best team in the fourth or fifth strongest confrence doesn't mean much. Maybe after they prove themselves in March for the next couple of years people will start to mention them as a basketball power house.

They're no powerhouse program. They have spurts from year to year of greatness, but there's not enough consistent greatness. I can recall when they were floormats in the Big Ten.

A power house team is one you ALWAYS gotta be afraid of when you play them. Year in and year out. You can't say that about OSU. Sorry.

This Greg Oden, Thad Five, OMG OSU is so great that they might get JESUS HIMSELF to return and suit up crap is wearing on my nerves and I can't wait till March. I hope they go out in the first or second round. Their "greatness" this year is the product of an out of control NCAA Basketball hype machine.

No they aren't. As others have said, to be considered a program among the elite you need to exhibit sustained success/excellence.

UNC, Duke, UK, Arizona, UConn, Michigan State and Kansas would be my opinion of the top modern era programs. I would consider UCLA, Florida, Syracuse and Gonzaga to be secondary tier modern era programs.

I would rank Ohio State in the third tier at the moment. If they can sustain their success over a period of the next 3-4 years, they would merit consideration for the secondary tier imo.

Yeah but how many national championships? Look Ohio St. is pretty good this year, but next year when Oden leaves for the NBA (I dont believe this bullshit that he's gonna stay) Ohio St. is gonna be in the shitter.
