In Jared Diamond's Guns, Germs & Steel how could you apply what is shown to all subjects in an classroom?

    Mr. Diamond makes the claim, which he supports, that three factors have shaped the course of human history. "Guns, germs, and steel" is a lot more snappy than what he's really saying which is a combination of weapons technology (or access to it), materials technology, and chronic disease, including plagues, are history's driving forces. It certainly applies in many ways. I think by giving you a couple of examples you'll get the idea. History: the New World was conquered by a combination of all three. Biology: Germs and resistance (or lack of). Chemistry: Steel is stronger than plain iron, understanding why leads to better materials. I think it's a sad state that our culture's development has been driven by disease and technological progress, itself driven by the need for new and better weapons.
