toyota 4x4, timing chain cover replacement?
I have a crack in the timing cover on a 22re 94 toy 4 x 4, the water pump, radiator and alternator were just replaced by a local mechanic, and the leak was not repaired, though noticed. The explanation I have been given is that it requires removal of the head in order to replace the timing chain cover. Is this true? Please advise.

PREPARATION FOR REMOVAL OF TIMING CHAIN
1. REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD
2. REMOVE RADIATOR
3. 4WD: REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL
4. REMOVE OIL PAN
Taken from the All-data data base.
So Yes, the head need to come off.
Time to replace, 13.7 hours flat rate.
The specific steps for replacing just the cover are not shown, but the cover has to come off to do the chain and replacing the chain while your already making the investment to fix the cover only makes sense.
E-Mail me, I'd be happy to fax the info to you.
