Interesting question.
To the left. I just tried it to the right and it feels most annoying. I also stir my coffee counterclockwise, draw my 'O's counterclockwise, and turn to the left when turning around.

To the right. I wonder if it's because I'm right handed and maybe left handed people shake their heads first to the left. Interesting.

I never thought about that before. I actually just did it to see which way I usually move my head...it seems that I move my head to the left first.
