Hep.A vaccine?
My girls' pediatrician (in FL) said they are starting to vaccinate for Hep. A. I did not get the shot for my girls because I did not think Hep. A was a big threat in the U.S. Wondering if anyone can tell me whether they think the Hep A shot is necessary? I have given them all of their other vaccinations. Please no "granola-you-shouldn't-vaccinate-at-all-answers!" Just Hep. A responses/experiences. Thanks

I vaccinated both of my children for it. With the world the way it is I figure it is one less deadly disease I have to worry about. Besides here in TX I was told Hep A was popping up more and more. I figure if I can prevent it why take a chance with my children's lives.

I'm with Kat. Why not do it now while they're young? There are many diseases that didn't use to be a big threat in the U.S. and are growing in frequency. There are also diseases that didn't use to be around at all and are re-surging, like whooping cough. I agree that Hep A is not as common as Hep B or C, but if you can prevent it, why not do it?
