Army Reserves?

My boyfriend is joining. What are the pros and cons? How can I be more supportive, even though I am worried for him?

Thanks in advance!

Has he already made the decision to join? If so just support him. If he is reserve you will still see him alot once he is done with Basic and AIT. He is doing something admirable, learning a new trade, becoming a better man and keep the citizens safe (even fools who say the military is full of idiots) I am a black male from nyc, i was surrounded by negativity, I wanted better out of life, joined The Army, now I have a degree in criminal justice, I've been all over the world and also have a decent amount of money in my bank account thanks to bonuses and the military giving me stablility. Good luck!

It's a tough choice. Odds are he will see combat, but know that they will train him well, and get him ready for what he needs to do. Be supportive and be there for him. If he goes overseas, write to him and send him photos it will help him to remember you. If he writes of some bad stuff going on just know that it's his way to protect himself mentally. It will be a hard chore, but it will work itself out. If he's in school or interested in school, see if he's interested in ROTC it's active duty for 5 years (i think) afterward, but he goes in as an officer. Just support him and pray.

Do not let him go. All cons no Pros. This is the worst thing he could do...I know he is young and will make mistakes but this is one he may not come back from. You should worry very much. The military is full of idiots....

you can be supportive by writing letters and sending care packs to him after getting out of boot camp. Trying not to cause undue stress to him.
