How come christian parents teach their child christianity but leave out many many parts?

how come you dont show the verses where god kills thousands, how come u dont show the part where a man sends his daughter out to a crowed to be raped to death then cut her into pieces and send her to 12 leaders across israel. how come you dont teach about lot and his incestious relationship with his daughters? how come you teach about david but not that he was adulterer?

why do you leave out parts? i went to a christian school for 12 years and was never taught any of this. its like they knowingly kept away from specific things.

Update:

i was taught the holocaust around 6th grade, why was i not taught those stories in the bible... at all? i had to find them out on my own.

Gee!you sound bitter!Perhaps because these things are not appropriate subjects to speak to 6 yr olds about.I don't know what church you went to but the one I go to has always dealt & talked about all the mistakes Bible people have made & how God was forgiving & full of mercy.Besides maybe your misunderstanding alot of things. For example you mention Lot & his daughters, well it was his daughters who got him drunk to have sex with him not the other way around.Maybe you wanted God to strike them down with lightning?Well imagine if God did that to you every time you sinned.Fortunately he doesn't because He's ever so patient with all of us & he understands that we are not perfect. So talk to your pastor about these issues you have & make sure you thank God for not striking you down!

Here's the deal, if you as an adult had stories from any type of book, not just the Bible, that mentioned sex of any kind, mass murders, rape, drug abuse and addictions, and other not so nice stuff, would you tell those stories to any three year old little girl? If yes, you are a psychopath who needs to be put in a mental institution. The Bible was not written to scare the living hell out of little children, it was written to show God's love to humanity. Yes there are stories that are very much not G-rated, but that doesn't mean that the Bible as a whole is like that. The stories that children are told from the Bible are ones that they themselves can comprehend to a certain degree in order for them to be taught. Teaching and learning from the Bible is a life-long process, so trying to do it all within a short amount of time with young people is not going to be good for their spiritual development over their entire life. In teaching anything to anyone, you need to be sensitive towards their stage in life, what can they physically, mentally and emotionally, all three at the same time, take in without it having long-term affects on them. So, in conclusion, that is why I will not tell little children about the stories of mass violence and sexuality in the Bible.

Perhaps its because out of compassion people don't want to tell their children horrible things. It is unfortunate that they leave out the bad because it would let the child decide for themselves. Still, Sunday school is supposed to get the children to understand God and Christianity as a healing, teaching, religion so that they understand right from wrong in a Christian sense. It's only later that your world gets complicated and your view of the world changes due to age. Don't be too disappointed, the people teaching you thought they were doing the right thing. From hence forth, knowledge is up to you and you have to understand God and your faith for yourself.

Just once I'd like to see a "Children's Bible" that includes the Book of Revelation. Or my all-time favorite Bible verse, 2 Kings 2:23-24.

You are naive. I wonder what a Politically Correct Bible would look like. Jesus eating ice cream with care bears? If you cannot stand the truth of the Bible, and it gives you nightmares, don't read it. It is a book that contains the good and the bad, and we are to learn from it. That is the point, that we learn from it. That is why my children's Bibles are the same as mine. Nothing is withheld. Everything is taught. You know God explains why those things are done, maybe you should investigate why things are done rather than acting incensed that they were.

When is the last time a teacher tought his 7 year old kids about the holocaust?

Source(s): The OT is historical. There is a bad side to history. In the OT, God tells us why bad things happen.

Because you don't teach children these things. They are written in the Bible to show you that you didn't invent sick things, satan had.

It is hard for me to explain to my sons why you don't talk to strangers. They don't know what sick things these people are capable of, and I do not want to kill their innocence to teach them fear. I worry that if they don't fear strangers enough though, that they'd "test" if what I tell them is truth.

Children are still free thinkers who ask questions. You have to get them to accept the religion before they can learn that stuff, or they might turn away.

The holocaust was committed by evil people. So were the incidents Chippy mentions.
