Im 20 weeks and summer is coming. I have very pale skin and usually go to the tanning bed for color. Is it ok to use spray on tan or self tanning lotion?

The ingredients in self-tanners are harmless, so it's fine to use them during pregnancy. These lotions and sprays are basically dyes that stay on the surface of your skin and won't harm your developing baby.

Techenically you can tan in a salon the rays wont hurt the baby the reason doctors have concern is the heat of the beds if you go first thing you would be fine. Keep in mind how many pregnant woman are at the beach the tanning rays wont nor cant penetrate any deeper than the sun, If your intrested in a self tanner use a cream lotion it will moisturize your skin as well as tan you.any tanning lotion with a single bronzer will do I would suggest a Product from designer skin or Swedish Beauty (I own a tanning Salon and was told by my obgyn)

That's a great Q, thanks for asking becuase I am 9 weeks, summer is coming up soon and I havent though about that yet! The chic before me that answered "are you really that vain" must have something wrong with her... like maybe all the lights upstairs aren't on... Just becuase you're pregnant doesn't mean you can't up your appearance, even if it's just the allure of a simple tan. Spending too much time out in the sun isn't the best for you either, yeah sun is good, but when you do it in excess you could overheat... What about people that live in places like PHOENIX! I do and it gets up in the 100's as early as April. You can't stick a pregnant woman out in that heat.

it completley depends on the type of product, i had a spray tan done, at a salon and i checked on the net and with the beautician that the product was safe forpregnant woman.
as long as you do your research before hand it should be fine.
just find out the name of the product and type into a serch engine to get on the companies website, you can either email them or go to info and you should be able to find out if its safe.
