I literally just got back from seeing it.

    I didn't like it much.

Firstly, it had an unbelievable amount of extermely good special effects. The actors were passionate(I guess). It was very stylish and beautifully shot, but....

    This movie had no soul.

It was a huge, sweaty, testosterone laden conglomerate of every battle movie ever made. Even the hunch back traitor looked like Gollum from Lord of the Rings.

There was lots of shouting, and battle cries, but no heart.

It was like some huge, overblown WWF wrestling spectacle, complete with spandex panties and hairy chests. No love, No drama, Nothing but battle sequences. I love history, and I am very familiar with the story (Battle of Thermopylae). The only thing they considered changing was the fighting styles(to make it more exciting). They never thought to give this movie some depth, and soul. The dialog was just ridiculous, and whoever played Xerxes should never act in a film again. Where the hell did they find him? He was terrible. The movie didn't suck, it will keep you entertained, but just like Pan's Labyrinth, I thought it was going to be so much better

No, I couldn't be less stoked.

Here's my prediction for this film. It will do well opening weekend as all the drooling fanboys rush out to see it based on the stunning visuals in the trailer. Second weekend it drops 60% because most everyone who wanted to see it did so that first weekend.

Such is the lot of films geared towards adolescent boys these days. This ain't the 80's anymore when teen boys were the core demographic movie studios tried to please because they went back to movies over and over again. They're preoccupied with video games now and if not that, then the Internet. Family movies are the most profitable now. That's not necessarily a bad thing in my eyes.

I'd like to see it cause I'm interested in the story, but I may not be able to handle it. A little too violent for me.

I couldnt even sit still for 'Gladiator'!! But I survived it, and I loved it. With 300.. I'll probably wait for the DVD so I can pause it if it gets too much for me.
