teen and drug use!!!?
My 16 year old came home late last night. He was supposed to be sleeping over at a friend's house, but came home early because he felt sick. He vomited repeatedly. He didn't smell of alcohol and didn't appear drunk, but after we both went to bed, I hear him vomiting again. I got up to check on him, and he was in bed, lying in his own vomit! Said he just didn't feel like getting up. He was not unconscious. I made him get up and change his clothes and the sheets, and again, he didn't appear to be intoxicated. This morning he didn't seem to be hung over, but he didn't eat much today (he did have breakfast).
Is there any kind of drug that would affect him this way???
Of course I tried talking to him, He denies any thing, but it has to be something that makes you lie in your own vomit!
He didn't get it at school, it's March break. ANd if he was feeling that miserable, it should have been apparent in his behaviour, and it wasn't, and if I was so sick I couldn't roll out of my own vomit, I wouldn't have been able to get out of bed and clean my sheets when my mother told me to!

Ask him what happened. If you cannot communicate with your son then you have more serious problems than just drugs to worry about.

It probably was alcohol, although the up-chuck should have smelled of it. He might have just been sick. Teenagers are certifiably insane. They do a lot of weird things. Just keep asking questions, demanding to know where, when and why. You have a right to ask and he has an obligation to answer.
Next time take his temperature. If he is ill enough to vomit he should probably be running a fever.
Make sure he understands that trust is a factor here. He needs to come clean with you. Now that I think about it, huffing might also cause him to vomit. Ask him if he inhales household cleaners, white out, or lighter fluid. Keep an eye on how soon these things get used around the house. Look for unusual marks or burns around the lips or nose.
You can also take him to the doctor to be tested. Like I said, teens are certifable. Good luck. My son turns 23 this year and is getting back to being a normal human being. Living on his own has helped a great deal. Hang in there, you'll get here someday too.

Most teen agers do not want to share with their parents unless they have an open communication line with their parents and other responsible adults. If I were you, I would have brought him to the doctor that night he kept vomiting. Why, you may ask? that would be the most opportune time to know what was really wrong with him. It would make you free from thinking ill of your son.... Well, he could really be sick, he must have eaten something that made his tummy bad, or it could be drugs, or it could be anything. some drugs, when ingested or taken, may make the user want to eat and eat and eat until s/he could no longer take the volume of food getting into his/her system, thus, resulting to induced or natural vomiting. I really would suggest that you send your son to the doctor while it is still early. This will at least give you peace of mind if he is not into drug, or if he is not suffering from any illness. And if the medical tests will tell you that he is into drugs or has certain weird illness, then it is time for you to do something about your boy. and it will be during this time that he will really need his family's support, love and care. good luck...

First, sit him down and share a personal and similar story (even if you have to make one up). Tell him about how you used to sneak out of your bedroom window to meet your boyfriend in the middle of the night and drink in his car and come home drunk. Help him realize you are a real human and not just "the mom". After sharing this tell him, "The reason I am telling you this is because I want you to know that I've been there and done that and anything you tell me will not shock me or upset me, but I do need you to be honest." Throw in how one time you got so drunk that you almost got seriously hurt. Explain that is why you need him to be honest, because you would prefer to be aware of what is going on, even if that means you realize it is somewhat out of your control. At his age, if he is doing drugs or drinking, he is old enough and in a position to do it no matter what you think/say. It is better to know where he is and what he is doing EVEN if you don't agree with it, so that you can try to educate him to make better choices. Getting mad will only encourage more lying, so wait until he is not around to get upset.

Pretty much an overdose of any kind of drug, legal or illegal, would do that. However if he didn't appear "high" and he's feeling better he probably just got sick. There is a bad version of the stomach flu thats going around most high schools and college campuses. Try to check and see if any of his friends or classmates have been sick lately.

There are loads of them, typically medically used medicines which can give you the high experience but are not designed to make you look it. If he has access to Oxycontin or Vicodin or something, check that out.
Other than that, it's nothing and he just doesn't feel good. Kids who are doing drugs or drinking don't come home because they don't feel good.
Ask your son. Email at nyy2135525@yahoo.com if you want more help, I know a lot about child psychiatry.

sounds like either morphine, oxycodone (percocet, lortabs) or oxycontin. kids are abusing prescription drugs like mad these days and it is VERY dangerous!! i am a recovering oxycontin addict and from experience i know how bad it can be. ive seen more than a few friends overdose and one friend die from it. please get your son some help. you can buy a urine drug test at the pharmacy. test him ASAP to find out what it is! he could have had an allergic reaction and that would cause the vomiting. either that or he took too much! if the drug test shows that opiates are in his system that's probably what he took - oxy or morphine. the drug will be out of his system in 48-72 hours though. try to talk to him and get him to be honest. good luck, i know first hand how powerful and life threatening drugs can be, i wish only the best for you and your family.
if he wont talk to you then that is an obvious sign something is wrong and he made a mistake. his own guilt is keeping him from opening up to you guys. oxycontin makes your muscles very weak - which would explain the lethargy, and it can also cause persistent vomiting. there isnt usually much of a 'hangover' effect from it either.

He really could just be sick, is there any reason for you not to trust him and think that he is out doing this stuff? If your answer is no then you should believe him when he says he just didn't feel good. My 10yr old whom I know was not out drinking and doing drugs had something of this sort she threw up and threw up, couldn't keep anything down not even water then started dry heaving and the next day she was just weak and sore but other than that was perfectly fine, while she was sick I could have beat her bloody and she wouldn have not cared she was just that sick and it could have been the same for your son

There's some stuff that would make him vomit, especially if he didnt do it right, but he would have been vomiting right when it happened, not later. As for the vomit on his bed, he probably was going to get up, and puked right as he tried to get up. He's probably fine.

I think parents tend to jump to conclusions too much. Just because something appears to be related to drugs and alcohol doesnt always mean it is linked to the problem. He may have a virus in his system of he may have some other problem going on inside. Take Him to the doctor and let him give you the correct information that you seek.

Sounds like it could be opiates. Percoset or Vicodin or Oxicotin. Did you get a look at his pupils? They would be very small.
Mushrooms and other "trip" drugs make people puke too but he would probably have been acting strange.
Also he might just have the Norovirus(also called stomach flu)
That can make you barf for a night and sick to your stomach the next day for sure.

just because he is on break doesn't mean he didn't buy it before school let out
I cleaned myself up when I was sick but that doesn't mean I wanted to!
