You're allowed to choose whatever answer you like as best answer, but I actually frown upon it, and have been victim to it.
If you ask a question and get 10 answers, 9 of which fair and well written and one that is obviously wrong and irrelevant, and you choose the wrong, irrelevant answer as best and rate it well, you could have at least 9 people upset with you.
Not to mention, once you post a question, it's saved on the site forever, and can be searched, especially when it's resolved. Irrelevant best answers will hurt the research integrity of the service.

Hmmm, i think of a particularly some human beings do. I talk over with a number of my contacts of Y!A and a few of them have admitted that they cheat. i do no longer report cheaters except they are going over the acceptable regardless of the indisputable fact that. i recognize a few human beings vote for his or her very very own solutions with numerous debts every time yet quite it rather is in basic terms a sport. the only genuine cheating I do is vote casting form my very very own solutions in the event that they are the BA, they commonly are regardless of the indisputable fact that for the time of any different case i would not problem answering it! =)

My opinion...You should choose the best answer based on it answering your question the best. There are people who use the past question and answers instead of posting a question and they should see an answer that is going to give them the info they are looking for.
But, it's your question, and your sandbox, so you pick what you feel is best for you.

Yes, however activity like that is a flag to other participants and Yahoo monitoring staff of game pointing. So be careful with stuff like that.

Seen it done many a time,I suppose it's a bit unfair but if I had 10 dull answers and one irrelevant but utterly hilarious answer,I would choose it for sure!

Its your choice! You chose the one you want to even if it nothing to do with your question.
