THanks for the responses. but what if I put an after market rim on there that looks like the original, can they tell?

you can do anything you want. you must realize that a personalized car is worth a lot less to a dealer or other person. but it is your money to loose.

You sure can..... but you probably won't be getting much more money on the trade in. You'd be better off to put the stock rims back on it and then sell or, if possible, re-use the fancy rims on your next car... if they would fit.

why not you are taking the loss maybe take the old rims or some from a scrap yard to a tire store and ask them to swap them about 16 to 30 dollars a wheel

Sure! Just don't expect them to give you anything for the wheels you have on now. You can put almost anything you want on a car, and trade it in! Happy shopping!
