Why do top contributors sometimes reply such rubbish answers? That are clearly wrong.?

Is the system not flawed, they could be 'Top' contributors (TC) in topics totally unrelated to what they are answering and you would not know?

Plus, is it not easier to gain this title, by purely answering questions in a manner you know the asker is wishing to hear. As many question are clearly looking for a re-assurance of the askers opinion? Which you could say this is one of ?

How can you get several TCs giving completely different answers, someone must be wrong!?

You thoughts? From both TC and others.

This TC tag was a surprise to me. I am disappointed to find that the tag was given to me for having answered many questions in a particular section, rather then for Best Answer in that section.

Once again I believe Y!A has it wrong, as one answerer said, it is a gimmick.

If you post your suggestions in the forum 'link is upper right side of page' they may change it at some point.

Check the persons profile before choosing a BA to see where their TC & BA catagories are & if they are inline with the question.

Yes I would say that the system is flawed because they could answer 20 questions with monosyllables and gain more points than someone who has put a lot of effort and research into their answer.

There is the beginnings of a system though, as people can rate the best answer so these top posts may not get chosen and miss out on the 10 points.

Also if they enter something totally unrelated then they'd probably receive negative points so that's bring their score down too.

In general though if someone was to answer loads of 'basic' questions everyday (eg should I do this?.... type questions) with what they thought the asker wanted to hear and had a LOT of time on their hands they could easily become a Top Contributor.

Top Contributor does not mean that they are correct, just that they answer a lot of questions sucessfully.

The Orange TC tag means NOTHING!!!!

By being a so called Top Contributer all you have to do is answer a BUNCH of questions in a single catagory.

You do NOT have to be selected or voted best answer to ANY of them.

You just need to post as many as possiable answers without any violations. Although the way Yahoo Q&A operates someone could probably get TC and then have all their answers removed for violations BUT STILL keep the TC title untill someone passes them.

(YAHOO Q&A has become a JOKE lately and it's YAHOO's FAULT!!!!!)

To be honest why care so much ! If someone thinks they are good to get the stupid little badge, let them. Its only a gimmick by Yahoo because so many people are hitting the higher levels now that they have to think of something new to keep people interested!

Hmm. to boost their points and have the TC title. If i could spen all day on here, answering questions with irreleveant answers, i would. But world domination calls...

    ds,

Many of those labeled "Top Contributor" with those ugly orange tags would much rather not have them.

What exactly does it mean, anyways? If Yahoo! wanted to hand out kudos, they could have done so in a number of constructive, meaningful ways...but they chose this.

    Go figure.

Top contributors just contribute; it is nothing to do with the quality of answers.

Just quantity, I try an honest answer even if it takes me long.

    Good Q.

boredom and 2 easy points and no thought process, plus there is alot of fools out there , and some like to show how witty they can be

You can have partially correct answers, you can have fans who vote for your answers, regardless of the truth or fallaciousness of it.

Remember, this place is like "Whose Line Is It, Anyway?", everything is made up and the points don't matter

you get points for an answer irrespective of weather is is relevant or not.
