Are people so dumb that they honestly think no one will ever catch them illegally downloading anything?

Do they want to pay to the $$$ fines?

Yah it's much safer (yet still illegal ) to just copy Music CD's from a friend or copy a DVD from a rental store, or .....

I think the main thing is that people doing something/anything they know is illegal are willing to risk getting caught. Otherwise, they wouldn't do it in the first place.

How many people own a computer. People think they won't catch me. The only company I have heard of who serious about go in after people is the music industry. Of course those low lives go after the fans not the companies who illegally download and provide the music. I am happy I don't listen to music on the radio anymore

truth of the matter is, they don't worry that much about people downloading stuff...the people they go after are the people that distribute files illegally.

what makes more sense? to arrest every person who buys a gram of weed or to go after the drug dealer and take out a large chunk of drug use in one foul swoop...same kinda deal.

besides, I've got 10 years experience (not in drugs)

It goes along with the "everyone's doing it" mentality. For example if all the 10th graders decide to vandalize the whole classroom do you think they would expel 300 people... no

Welcome to the internet where it happens all day/everyday.

People are more worried about suing the people who are selling their crap for money themselves, then people who download movies/tvshows/music just to watch it.

Everyone does it. It would be kind of hard for them to go after every single person who does it.

    I'm not worried. =)
