First, I'd look at what she's eating. A lot of foods will make the whole body smell bad- for example, garlic, onions and pungent herbs like cumin and fenugreek will make the body smell like curry, so deodorant won't work as well. She'll smell like fake flowers in a curry shop.
If it's the case that her body pH and resulting skin bacterial composition is changing for whatever reason, be it hormonal changes or dietary changes, maybe she can switch brands of deodorant. Maybe she is pregnant!
I can recommend a fantastic deodorant that is safe to use. It is a deodorant one can buy at whole foods, new seasons, earth fare, etc...a green grocery. It's called NOW brand long lasting deodorant creme. It comes in a little white plastic jar. I think it was made for smelly hippies that don't take showers every day (or hikers- i fall into this particularly stinky category at times).
It has several natural antibacterial herbal extracts that smell very pleasant and are very effective at curbing odor, even during intense workouts. it claims to be effective for days...i can personally attest to its effectiveness for 2 days for me and I'm a smelly guy. My roommate-a girl-said I smelled good coming out of the shower with only this on. The light fragrance is very neutral to feminine. It claims to be effective for arms and feet as well.
Good luck on de-smellifying your girl friend.

Somtimes a body gets used to a deodorant and it no longer works. I had a friend with the same problem. My husband told him his deodorant isn't working any more and to try this other brand. The guy tried it and now he doesn't have the stinky problem anymore. He thanked my husband for being a good friend and telling him, cause he didn't notice.

Just have her switch to a new deodorant. Sometimes our bodies get used to things, and we have to "switch it up". If that doesn't help, tell her to watch what she eats. Certain foods give our bodies odor, and we don't even know it! And if all else fails, tell her to see a doctor for alternatives.

she should of course check out her diet and whats she eating. but also even if it maybe a little embrassing its probably worth it. to go to the doctors and explain her little situation cos they can make sure your on a healthy diet and eating the right foods. also most doctors are very friendly and they just wanna help. if none of her deodrants work her doctor and let her try this prescription called dyrsol. its lik a roll on lik certain dri. or if that doesnt work she should check in to a dermatologist and theyll help you and can prescribe meds. by the way id know this cos my sis had the same problem.
