when the water starts to boil, place the bottle for 10 minutes... the thing is u have to remember, the water has to boil first so that the virus is gone and place the bottle for 10 minutes for it to be stirilized:)

Agree with keepsondancing. You really shouldn't worry about general household germs. The only reason you might need to sterilize is if the bottle came in contact with someone else who was sick. In any case, your dishwasher detergent and the heat of the dishwasher water will kill most everything that could cause a problem.
I know my mother let me (by accident) eat woodchips from the holes in the kitchen floor, where the cat walked, and I'm as healthy as anything at twenty.

5 minutes is enough, but unless the baby has a health problem, which you probably wouldn't know yet (the baby being so young), you should only sterilize the bottle the first time. After that, simply washing the bottles with hot water and dish soap is fine.

Five minutes is enough, but I'd like to discourage you both from sterilizing. Any germs remaining on a clean bottle are those the child is exposed to every day anyway. If a kid is raised in a sterile environment, his immune system will never be exposed to the bacteria and viruses that he needs to build up resistance to.
We are looking at a generation of sick, allergic, asthmatic kids whose parents were just too fastidious. Kids need to be exposed to dirt and germs in order to build up their immune system. Relax and let your child grow up in a normal (dirty) house. He will be healthier for it!

Rolling boil 3-5 minutes. A dishwasher works just fine too if you have one.
