Because people want entertainment so they go to watched mostly abused animals at a zoo. Even if they weren't all caged up they wouldn't attack or eat you because most of them don't live around here, like the lions, they live in Africa and they wouldn't hurt you ALLLLL the way over there.

It's sad but we all know that all of us and our family enjoys going to the zoo and the reason their caged is because they are wild animals and exotic, animals weren't meant to be around people by nature so the only way could be around theme is by having theme in a caged in the zoo and people get to save money but not going to places around the world to look at this animals.

Would you want to go to the zoo to see the animals if they were walking around free like you were, would you feel safe when you went to the zoo knowing that one of the wild animals that eat meat could attack you and have you for thier lunch. So basically the animals are in cages to keep you safe and to keep the zoo from being sued by your parents.

I have NEVER been able to figure this out.

When I went to the zoo as a small child, I remember looking at how SAD all the animals were. I wanted to find the keys and LET THEM ALL OUT so that they could go home. My thinking on this has never changed. I have never patronized zoos for that reason. I recall distinctly seeing an elephant crying in its cage.

A zoo is a horrible place, a prison for animals who have committed no crimes.

So they may be fed, bathed and enjoyed by many parents and their children.

Few creatures on earth are better treated than these animals.

I would gladly be in a zoo, if animals ever turned the tables on us.

I'd love to watch the animals go by...

Many scientists believe zoos help to breed rare species & in turn return them to the wild I think its wrong Look at that Whaleshark in the Atlanta Aquarium what cruelty! I could go on but enough for now

If you did not cage them they would wonder off. Would you go out if you knew there were lions roaming around? I dont like zoos as animals need to live in their own environment. One could argue that if they were not caged how could we see them.. I dont agree with that arguement. How would you like to be in a cage all your life. If one thinks thats easy stay in your room for one month. You will see my point.

well if they were not caged think about it, nobody would be able to see them unless they were rich to go see them in the wild. or in text books. Also they would go crazy in the city without cages people and other animals would be harmed they would not be able to be tamed.
