Recurring bartholin cysts?
I get a bartholin cyst EVERYTIME I get my period. This starting happening after I became sexually INACTIVE. What could be causing this? Anyone have any ideas?

It is a possibility that the sebaceous glands that feed the gland keep getting clogged. Keep in mind, that during menstruation, the hormones in a females body go into overdrive and can create problems with acne and cysts alike. If the cyst cannot be popped alone, it may be beneficial to go to your gyno and have them lance it. Once the tissue is lanced, the labia will "fix" itself by generating granulation tissue which "gives way" a bit more easily than regular tissue. This will allow you to "pop" and drain the cyst on your own. Although it is not highly recomended, due to the formation of scar tissue, it can be the most practical solution.
Other more permanent, but more involved solutions would include various types of surgery to remove the glands themselves.
Unfortunatley, like all cysts, they cannot be prevented and are very unpredictable.
Good luck to you.

You may have to have the bartholin gland removed. It's a simple procedure, can be done in a doctor's office. I've had them myself a couple of times and had the gland removed after the last one. They are painful...no doubt about that. Talk to your doctor to see what the best option for you is.
