Why is "Christ" pronouced "Jidu" when translated into Mandarin Chinese?

    Because that is the literal translation into the language. "Christ" itself isn't a name, it's a descriptive title meaning "The Crucified One," which leaves it open to direct interpretation into other languages. "Jesus" on the other hand, is the name of a person, and will be said according to the pronunciation rules of different languages, but will not be translated in itself.
