I have a Sony Cybershot camera with the digital display. When I turn on the camera it is all white.?

I cannot see any of the pictures on the little screen, but can take pictures because it still flashes and then I can see the pics when I stick the memory stick into my laptop. So anyway, does anyone know why it is doing this? I tried replacing the battery, but still white screen when I turn it on. HELP. Thank you.

Update:

It hasn't been exposed to wetness or nature. It has been in the camera bag. In fact before it turned white, I took a picture. Turned it off. Then went to turn it back on and then the LCD was white.

    Hey, I dig your name. : )

When we see this problem in cameras at our place, it's typically the CCD. There is usually a black screen, or white screen with grey lines in it or even a purple and green smear type of a screen. There was a big service advisory for a lot of the major compact models that are a few years old. Since you didn't state what it is, I don't know if it's covered by the advisory or not.

Now, if it's covered by the advisory, you can get it repaired for free....as long as it doesn't have any other problems. It sounds like your camera is still functioning, since you can see the flash work and the lens zooms when you want it to....even if you can't see anything. I've included a link below where you can put your model in the faq and go through the steps to see if it's covered. If it isn't, you can still contact them to see maybe how much it might be. If it is a CCD, they can be pretty expensive, since it's part of the lens. I would guess around 200, but it would depend on the model of the camera. I hope this helps!

If the screen is black when off then white when the screen is on, this is a common symptom of an electronic that has become wet. Has the camera been exposed to any of the elements of nature?

do no longer purchase Sony! You pay lots greater for fewer advantageous aspects! Plus, my mom's merely broke, and he or she took impeccable care of that stupid factor. it might have fee merely approximately $3 hundred just to deliver it off to get it repaired, because of the fact this is guarantee had merely ran out. We took that funds and offered her a clean digicam rather. as quickly as I spoke to a salesclerk at Circuit city, he defined that with Sony you're in elementary terms finding out to purchase the call. the recent Canon's are great, an abundance of advantageous aspects at a low fee. I merely offered my dad one. the bigger show screen replace into great for his old eyes. additionally, I also have a Kodak, yet determine you get one which is rechargeable, and not one which you place AA batteries in. I blow with the aid of a ton of batteries. sturdy success. merely circumvent Sony, and you will do merely fantastic!
