Help!!!! I have Uncontrollable itching all over body?
I am 331/2 weeks preg. and for the past few weeks I have had an uncontrollable itch. all over my body, mostly on my arms and legs. I scratch until I bleed. Its as if Ive been bit by a hundred mosquitos. There is no rash, I told my dr. about it and he suggested I change the soap I use. I have done that, I have also changed the laundry soap that I use, I also take cool showers. Ive tried all I could think of. Moisterizers dont help and benadryl helps just for a little while. but I dont like taking it much cause it makes me drowsy.I am going crazy. I cant stand this. and then to top it off I suffer from insomia. I have been put on Ambien and they dont help Im up all night and day. I have a few hours of sleep a day. Whats the Deal? I am beginning to hate being pregnant.

I found this article on babycenter.com:
Severe itchiness in the second or, more commonly, in the third trimester can be a sign of intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, a liver problem that affects less than 1 percent of pregnant women in the United States.
When bile doesn't flow normally in the small ducts of your liver, bile salts accumulate in your skin and make you itch all over. The itching can be quite intense. The condition itself doesn't cause a rash, but you may end up with red, irritated skin with little cuts in areas where you're scratching a lot.
Call your doctor or midwife immediately if you think you have cholestasis because it may spell trouble for your baby. Your caregiver will do blood tests to check your liver as well as ultrasounds and fetal heart monitoring to check on your baby.
Depending on your health and your baby's condition, you may be induced before your due date. This problem goes away after you have your baby, although you may get it again with your next pregnancy.

It could be an allergic reaction to something in your home that you have recently changed such as bed covers or washing powders.
Dry Itchy Abdomen:
What is this? As your beautiful belly grows, your skin stretches and tightens. This causes very uncomfortable dryness and itching. If you begin to experience severe itching late in your pregnancy, possibly accompanied by nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue and possibly jaundice, you should contact your doctor. This could be a sign of cholestasis, which is related to the function of the liver. Your doctor may take blood tests to verify if you are experiencing cholestasis. Cholestasis occurs in about one in every 50 pregnancies and is not a problem after pregnancy.
If the itching is intense and spreads to your arms and legs, it could be pruritic urticarial papules and plagues (PUPP). PUPP occurs in about one in every 150 pregnancies. PUPP is itchy, reddish, raised patches on the skin that will go away after delivery.
What can I do? To help alleviate your dry itchy abdomen, you should keep your abdomen moisturized. You can also use anti-itch cream such as calamine lotion to help provide more relief. Cholestasis can be treated with medications. To help alleviate PUPP your health care provider can prescribe oral medicine and anti-itch creams. Try taking a nice oatmeal bath to help relieve some of the discomfort.

Oh my gosh you poor thing.I feel for you because I had similar problems when I was pregnant. One of them was with my legs,I couldn't stop moving them especially when I layed down to try and sleep.I'm not too sure about what to do about the itching, have you tried medicated talcon powder? That might help. You might get better advice from a pharmacist so ask one of them.Doctors don't really get paid to think for themselves all they do is go by the book on most issues. But a pharmacist in my opinion is better able to guide you in the right direction.Best of wishes and good luck.

hi there,
if this is your first pregnancy???? you can actually be allergic to your hormones? i know sounds weird. but it only happens in first pregnancy. and usually in the last trimester. i start with a little itch and ended in hospital, cause it got that bad i couldn't deal with it. i suggest you go to the hospital and get it checked. they usual take some bloods. sometimes its bile that comes into your blood.
good luck, and they should give you something and it will stop the itch. its heaven

Eczema patients can avoid scratchy fibers for softer ones like bamboo, cotton, or silk, which are gentler on the skin. Opting to buy organic fibers can also be a wise, healthy, and eco-friendly alternative. Learn here https://tr.im/uYf1E

1,has your doctor given you any pills? it may be a medicine side-effect.
2, are you tensed about your delivery? this itching can also hapen bcause of tension. be cool. try to divert your mind and think more about the baby inside.

I get like that a lot. For me, it's a dry skin issue. You might want to see a doctor.
