A very accurate 223 varmint or target rifle?

You have a few hundred choices to choose from...

If your looking for a bolt action center-fire cartridge target rifle, I would suggest the Remington model 700 and it's clones. There many calibers available, and many many shooters use this platform. Target competition, hunting, professionally and plinking. Like some models of firearm...there are many aftermarket parts and accessories.

I'd suggest the CZ 527 .223. Light, extremely accurate, and great value.

Also the Ruger M77 and Savage 10FP Varmint.

$500 might be a stretch for some (especially including optics)in new condition but good quality used rifles are out there as well.

I'd go with the Savage - exceptional accuracy out of the box, and priced a few $$ less than the Remington, Ruger, CZ. With the money you save you can buy a better scope. The trigger on the Savage is easily adjustable too.

Thompson Center Encore with a bull barrel, I have one set up for several calibers.

To change calibers all you have to do is swap out the barrels.

Barrel and scope are one piece so you don’t have to re-zero when you swap out.

You can also convert it to a pistol by swapping out the stock for pistol grips and barrel.

I have both 223 heavy barrel and 25-06 heavy barrel for varmints and predators.

Encore is a very accurate weapon, and one I have never regretted buying I hunt with it a lot.

Why not opt for a trigger upgrade and target upper on your XM15? That way you can target shoot when you want to with the target upper or switch it and plink with the upper you have now. Plus, you'll enjoy a match trigger whenever you shoot it! If that's not what you want to do, a high quality bolt gun would be my other suggestion.

I agree with Emmett. Savage, Tactical Model 100 in .223 .

Reasonably priced, EXTREMELY ACCURATE right out of the box. No trigger adjustment needed on tactical model.

Browning abolt in 222 mag more than 500 but worth it tack driver. see the Thompson contender singleshots too...in 223 great varmit guns

As mentioned the Savages are great guns, their 'cheaper' Stevens brand is also very good. I have one to take out west for shooting Prairie dogs as well as a savage in .204 ruger and .17 hmr. All nice rounds.

what the hell for my uncle has a 223 and he was hunting with it one year and from 200 yards he shot right though one deer and hit another deer behind it killed them both. true story. so if your looking for a hunting rifle keep that gun.
