Try buying a jewelry box, and Mod Podge the outside of it. Even if you yourself aren't really artsy, it's not hard. You just buy the mod podge, a brush, some colored paper and whatever you want to decorate. you coat one spot in the mod podge [like glue] and then lay the paper, cut up in big and small pieces, some overlapping, all in different directions, then coat over the paper with more mod podge. Keep going on the whole thing until it's covered. It's cheap, it's easy, and it dries fast. I did this recently for a 17 year old, and she loved it. If you know her well enough, use colored paper that matches her room, or in her favorite colors, if not, then just make it multi colored and it'll still look awesome!! Also, if you wanted to spend more money, you could put some jewelry in it, or maybe a gift card after that. Kind of like personalizing a gift card. They still have the benefits of being able to buy something they really want, but you put thought and time into it ... a two part gift. good luck!

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it more of a homemade feeling.

PSP pink of corse.. get her a 1GB memory stick and about 2 games the PSP is about $150-$200 and the memory stick is like $60. the games are about $50 a pop.
