Laser hair removal anyone?

My 13 yo daughter is giving me a hard time with her hairs. Wax hurts, my epilation machine hurts, shaving thickens hairs, creams and mousses too and are nor practical, etc. she's getting on my nerves and the only option left is laser. Though expensive, if the hairs disappear forever I'd be willing to pay. Now I don't know if that hurts or not, how many sessions are needed (she has light skin and light hairs on legs and dark hairs underarms). Anyone who's tried please help. Thx!!!

Update:

My hairdresser says her nieces, 13 and 15 are doing the laser stuff, and that they say it doesn't hurt... but I need to hear more opinions of course! :-)

The laser works very well and the pain is relatively mild. Because the hair on her legs is light, it may not work there so you will need a consultation. She sounds like a great candidate for her underarms.

The attached site has a list of qualified providers.

    Good Luck.

Even though LASER hair removal is a long term permanent hair removal method, yet it is related with few complications such as re growth of the hair.

    Drawbacks of LASER hair removal:

    · A long-term data in view of safety, effectiveness and response rate of laser hair removal has not yet been established.

    · The fact that regrowth may occur after LASER hair removal implies that the procedure is not 100 % permanent.

    · Grey, red, blonde or unpigmented hair are not effectively removed by LASER hair removal technique.

    · Care must be taken while operating as carelessness can cost skin discolorations, lesions or burns.

    · It requires eye protection and skin care.

The laser works on dark or highly pigmented hair not fair hair and peach fuzz. It doesn't work the first time It takes a few sessions per area. It feels like a snap from a big rubber band on each area being done.

Anyone that tells you it works permanently with just one session is wrong and the fair hair and peach fuzz are never guaranteed to work.

She might be a bit young? I'm doing pulsed light (a type of laser), and it definitely hurts, but still bearable for me. That ebing said, if she can't stand waxing, forget it! Works best on fair skin but dark hair (risk of burning), but you can go and ask. Please check with dermatologist beforehand to see if she is not too young.

it depends a lot on cost depending which parts of the body are done...but its like 4 sessions...most places offer packages though. just search for a place in your area and go to their website for more info.
