Violation? Please give me your opinion?

Someone on here posted several extremely crude questions. On some of the questions, people stated in their answer that they had reported him. He then asked why psychiatrists insist on labeling people. I answered: "After reading your other questions, I would love to see what label a psychiatrist would give you." I received an email from Yahoo today that my answer had been removed because of a violation. Even if one had not read his other questions, what was wrong with my answer that would cause a violation?

I normally would not post an answer that was not helpful but his other questions were so crude and he posted them one after another in the mental health section.

I am just letting it go as I have heard similar stories, but could someone tell me what rule I violated?

The problem with the violation is the vague application of them.

Technically, that falls under "Insulting other participants". Even though they are giving a crass and vile question, someone (probably him) hosed you down

The violation was personal chat. The Questioner had used the word "you and your". When it comes to community guidelines using those word would make it person chat. After reading several other questions posted by the questioner It would be interesting to see what kind of label the questioner would recieve from a psychiatrist.

I been reported and recieved violations. There are people trolling if they didn't like one of the answers someone gave, the follow to report violations. Have recieved quite a few of them myselve so I don't use the word, "you and your" seeing as yahoo feels it's person chat.

Your answer was turned in by the "crude questioner" He did not like your opinion. Doesn't mean squat, he's posting crude questions for the attention, and doing the same by violations. To some, bad atttention is better than no attention at all.

I think talking about violations IS a violation..so I'm probably about to get some points deducted for answering your question.

Next time, don't even bother answering people that post crude or offensive questions.

I think that's when things like that happen

I don't think that's a violation at all. Then again, what do I know--I ask a Sanjaya question and I get a stalker with a naaaaasty and I do mean NAAAASTY answer----I say "stalker" because apparently this person didn't like an answer I put to his/her question.

    Scary.

Dispute the violation. I've done that in the past and sometimes if you make your case, you can get out of it.

When an answer is reported, Yahoo! Answers errs on the side of safety and removes the answer until it can be evaluated. If you write them questioning it Im sure they check it faster than if it just runs its course. In the legal society we live in today it is just safer to remove anything that gets reported rather than leave it up till you get a chance to check it out.

I've been reported a few times for answers that someone didn't want to hear.

EVERY time, I have replied back to Yahoo asking "Why was this a violation?".

    EVERY time...It has been reversed.

I guess some people can't handle the truth.

I am trying to figure out exactly constitutes a violation myself, and why some of the seemingly benign answers which I gave have been censored. I've has a few in the past that were baffling.

Perhaps the asker reported you. Either way, some of the crap that people post that does NOT get removed is amazing while sincere questions and answers are removed. I have decided it all completely arbitrary and we are all at risk of being shut down on Yahoo!Answers!

I had the same thing happen to me and I replied to the email and explained my reasons for posting that answer and the next day I got an email back saying that they had restored my points and that it was not a violation.
