The response to Hurricane Katrina was her fault as well as Mayor Nagin's.

The response to a natural disaster should be undertaken by local municipalities and the states.

The federal government only comes in to assist the state in its efforts.

It was pretty ridiculous that mainstream media blamed federal government for Hurricane Katrina response even though other states did a good job of taking care of hurricane issues.

Katrina proved Louisiana to be a dysfunctional state run by inept, corrupt Democrats.

But of course national media only wanted to blame President Bush. What did Bush know about New Orleans? What would any president know about New Orleans? It's not a president's job to micro-manage the nation.

We have 50 states for a reason so that these issues can be taken care of at a local level.

The distribution of the power in the Constitution of the state of Louisiana is quite interesting since it gives the Mayor of New Orleans a lot of power. However, Mayor Nagin handed that power over to Kathleen Blanco when she declared a state emergency. At that point, it became her problem. The federal government does not have the right to step in for a natural disaster unless the health of the greater good is at risk (such as an epidemic or annilation of the state government). The inability of the state to handle the issue is not only the governor's fault, but the fault of the entire executive branch and the people of Louisiana. In a country which glorifies capitalism and as little intervention of the government into our lives as possible, calling for state or federal help following a storm seems contradictory and should have been handled on the local level. Since those powers were expanded to the state level in the declaration, I would totally place the blame in Blanco's hands. The reason she is not running is because she will not win.

I would have rathered if she ran for reelection and lost to Bobby Jindal. John Breaux would be a stronger candidate than Blanco. But Bobby will still win.

The day she was elected I told friends, "God help us if she ever has to speak in front of a national audience. We will look like a bunch of idiots." I should have put it in writing.

Bobby chewed her up and spit her out during the debates four years ago. But idiots in some cajun parishes still voted for Blanco because of her cajun ethnicity. Fools!

That woman and the moron that they have for a mayor down there in NO have ruined that city. They are the ones who were responsible for getting people out of there, but they were so worried about who was going to pay for it that they didn't do anything. They have a ton of blood on their hands and they can die of a sexually transmitted disease as far a I am concerned. She better not come around my neighborhood looking for help!

If you are going to call someone an idiot, at least use proper grammar.
