Why are people woriied about FAT American Idol women singers? Aretha Franklin was heavy and she kicked ***!?

These days, the younger singers all have to be really skinny or somewhat muscular from working out hard, such as Janet Jackson. Even in the early 70s, Aretha lost a lot of weight and she went down to around a size 8 dress. A couple of her album covers show how slim she was (much like Whitney Houston), and in 1976 she co-hosted the American Music Awards, and she was in excellent shape. But, as people age, it is easy to gain a bit more weight.

But your point about Aretha and other singers just goes to show that real talent goes way beyond being stick-thin.

yeah but when's the last time you've heard anything current from Aretha? She may be a legend, but today's culture doesn't see her as a current pop idol. Almost nobody overweight is.

Aretha Franklin was not always heavy either...besides i don't think there is anything wrong with phat and sassy people either!
