Who else likes the old blocky video games from the early 80's better than today's graphic dazzlers?

I like both generations of games.
I grew up dodging cars in Frogger, when I was little. Then we got the NES. I was a tetriholic! I loved that game! Marble Madness is another one that had me hooked. These started a lifetime love for video games. My hubby thinks I'm corny for loving all the classics, but he's one of those who has to have the best of the best... Not me....
Today, I also enjoy the flashy graphic games that are like eye candy. It's like "DUUUDE!!! Did you see that crash!?!?!" Some things just weren't meant to be soooo graphicly inclined though. But, most games brought back from the old days were made okay. Take Zelda for example. This little speck-sprite with a sword or bow from the nes. Nowadays, he can transform into a dog, and the graphics on it are amazing! I enjoy watching a game while my hubby plays, because of the graphics and storylines.
But, I have to admit, I am a graphic artist, and I see some games in a completely different light than most people.
Oh yea, and I still have my atari's and all the games, plus a lot of the newer systems. I have favs on all of them, so I can't just pick one fav. I never had apple or intellivision. Guess I'm too young for those, but my atari's have stayed with me since it was popular.

I love duck hunt and the old school sidescrollers like super mario bros. I have a lot of the old games at home still someone gave them to me, but I don't have the console (just the controllers LOL). However I like what nintendo did, they made nintendo classics into gba ports.

I like both depending on my mood. I'm not turned on by awesome graphics, but Twilight Princess was preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty.
Lately, however, I've been playing my Sega Genesis. Ah, the simplicity of those games makes them wonderful.

My favorite are the late 80s - I'm a bit too young for what you're talking about. But I agree - early simple games were awesome!
Especially -
Quest for Glory
King's Quest
Goblins
Humans
And the old Sega MasterSystem - Wonderboy!
Awww - thanks for bringing up good memories :)

i have played the games from the early 80's and found them to be kind of boring i think the best time of all video games came in the mid 80's when the NES finally came out.
