Ford Focus 2000?

Completely dead battery and bad starter. We are trying to tow to repair shop, but car will not get out of park gear. Tried key on, key off, etc, but to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas here? Before I shoot the dang thing?

Thanks!

You either have to pry up the little round cover bout the size of dime next to the shifter at the back right part of it and pry that up with tiny screw driver and gently put the key into it and that will release the car out of park... OR Hook a battery charger with the start feature up to the terminals with no battery and get the car out of park once the ignition is on.. There are the only two ways to get the car out of park with out unhooking the shifter cable

    Hope this helps you out

Some automatic transmissions wont come out of park unless you step on brake with key on try that.

hey if u have trouble getting it out of park mode you have to step on the brake then move it into park then if u cant still get it your screwed no offense if i was you i woul dgo out and buy a toyota or a honda because they r the most dependable vehicles on the road plus when something does go wrong they dont cost much to fix.
