    Impossible to choose.

    Classic: High Noon

Realism: Open Range and Broken Trail

    Historical: Wyatt Earp

Bad western but ya gotta love it because of the main character in spite of poor acting by lesser actors: True Grit* / Rooster Cogburn / Glen Campbell & Kim Darby.

*--It did have a good theme song.

I was a big fan of the Eastwood spaghetti westerns but, ironically, hated Unforgiven. If I had to pick one favorite movie in the genre, I'd say 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid'.
