typing web page into internet tools to block didn't work - please help!?
i followed the advice to block a web site by going into control panel, internet options, content advisor, settings, approved sites, pasted the page link in from the actual site, selected "never," hit apply, then ok. it comes up that way when i go back to check, but the site is still accessible by typing it in when online.
i don't understand why this isn't working. please help, if you know how to make this feature work! and please, only kind and sincere answers. thank you very much.
mozilla firefox is what's used, not internet explorer.
also wondering if some area of the computer needs to be cleared out (history, cache, or other)? don't know the right terms, but i think i remember hearing something like that before. thanks again for all answers!

Well there are a couple of ways to do it. If you have a router you can block it there but it will be for everybody by default unless you only block it for certain IPs.
The other way that is browser independent is to use the HOSTS file. Wikipedia has a good article on it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file Look under ad-filtering and it will show you how. The location for the file under 2000/xp is c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ or whatever your windows directory is and then \system32\drivers\etc\ and in Windows 98 it is located in your Windows directory.
Make sure you delete your Internet Cache and history.

Assuming that you're using Internet Explorer, have you tried control panel, Internet options, security, restricted sites, sites and the domain name of the site you're trying to block?
