Planting Zoysia Grass?

I just planted my zoysia grass today, and we have an acre of land...we got so tired of doing the itty bitty pieces of plugs like they told us to and the pallets they ship you we ended up cutting them into 4 sections rather than 150 like it said it could do. We ordered 1900 plugs. Do you think it will work just as well? I dont understand how anyone has patience to do all of those little plugs.

I don't know anything about how the plugs come and all that, but I do know that zoysia will fill in just like St. Augustine. We had the sod pieces, and chopped them into four pieces each using a machete. Then we checkerboarded them and now, a year later, they are neatly filling in. We didn't even dig them in...We just dropped them down, made sure there was good soil/sod contact and kept them moist till they took root.

So, if you choose to use larger pieces, I can't see how it would do any harm at all. I understand your frustration with the little plugs! That DOES seem like a lot of work....

    Happy Yardening!
