as long as the guy that hit you has insurance ( which you need to rent a car) his insurance should cover you and your vehicle. what ever you do DO NOT settle right away cause if you got a good jolt it can show up three to five days later and last for awhile. if you settle then you are giving up all rights of any other medical coverage.

So he only have the insurance for his personal car not the rental? The rental should have some kind of insurance however they would not be liable in this case. The drive of the car is who would be responsable. I hope you have all of his contact in formation and his insurance. it's also time to get your insurance company involved with this ASAP. make sure everything is covered properly.

you should have gotton the license and insurance info from the other driver and given him yours.
You should get your car checked for any damage which might not be apparent by a relaible mechanic. If you drove it away then its probably ok .
I think you file a claim with your insurance company , its then their problem to collect from him . Call your insurance agent and ask .
You could sue him for your damages if you dont want the insurance claim .
You could call the rental company and see what they have to say about it .
