Did you see Sergio Garcia spit into the cup after removing his ball?

What kind of a player would do something like that, knowing that other golfers playing behind him would have to reach into the same cup to retrieve their ball?

I agree that Sergio's conduct was not only inappropriate, but indefensible as well. But I must say, I had the pleasure of seeing the good side of him too.

I was a marashll at the U.S. Open in 2002 at Bethpage Black and had the job of keeping the handicapped seating area clear near the 18th green. During the conclusion of Wednesday's practice round, one of the patrons, a wheelchair-bound man, asked me if I would obtain Sergio's autograph for him as he exited the green. I agreed and approached Sergio who when I told him my request and who it was for said, "where is he? I would be happy to meet him." Whereupon I boosted Sergio up on to the platform that accomodated wheelchair spectating and he spent several minutes with this young man and even had pictures taken with him and his family. This was all out of earshot or eyesite of the media and done purely out of the goodness of his heart.

Thus, when I see Sergio do something foolish like he did on Saturday at Doral, I temper my reaction with a fond remembrance of a really good guy and gracious pro golfer.

To be honest, i don't know what you're driving at here sir. As far as my knowledge goes, Ceferino Garcia is the heaviest Filipino champ at 163lbs. I think it's not fair to honor somebody by doing what he did if it's impossible to do so. Weight class. It is quite obvious that Manny can't make it at 150lbs so why force it at 160. Ceferino will be honored in some other way. I think Pac has already conceded in achieving the 9th by vacating the jr. middleweight and went back to welterweight where there are more probable opponents that he knows he can compete with. The likes of Mayweather perhaps???

Yes, I saw the replay of what Sergio did on that hole. spitting on the grass is one thing but in the cup is totally different. Who want to pick up there ball out of the hole after he spit in? That is just down right nasty of him, brat! With that kind of conduct that he need to stay in Europe. Did you heard about him kicking his shoes off and almost hit judge in the face. Its bad enough to hear him crying about now winning and he should let someone else win sometimes. I hope he get fine for that kind of action.

He was asked about it and said it went into the hole at the bottom,if it hadn't he would have wiped it. Mr Woods spits more often than any other player.

Players get upset and do different things, maybe that was a little gross, but I blame the news crew. Did they have to show that on the new (over and over and over)??? He did apologize --- next question.
