Did you read about the Sweet Little dog named Max, that was torn to pieces by three Pit Bull dogs in Iowa ??

Update:

It is true and I know the owner and she cried for two days. She called me and said Poor Max's head and legs were pulled off.

Update 2:

Hopefully, you don't think I am de-grading the Pit Bull Dogs. We used to breed them and they are Great dogs if well trained. Use the Leerburg Training Methods. These Pit bulls had poor handler and let them run at large. So I am not slamming the breed. It was the handlers/owners.

Update 3:

Yes, this is a true story. Max was killed on 3-24-07.

This is a harrowing story!! There is simply no need for breeds of aggressive dogs anymore, and owners should have to get a license to own such dangerous dogs!! Please pass on my feelings to your friend, as a dog owner myself i can imagine how she feels!!

Did you read about the sweet little pomeranian that killed a six week old baby this year? Or the Labrador Retriever that tore the face off of the French lady that got the first facial transplant? You might want to consider investigating the reports on TV and in the papers. I did and found many cases where the dogs were mixed of unknown origin, some weren't Pit bull or Pit bull mix at all that have been blamed for deaths. No doubt there are some that have attacked but then those dogs, what were they doing out roaming in the neighborhood? The media would like you to believe that Pit Bull dogs are responsible for a sudden rash of violence coinciding with political movements to control what breedS of dogs that people can't own. If you think it will stop with Pit Bulls, it won't. You will then be hearing horror stories galore of some other breed until all that's left are little dogs with no teeth, or teeth filed down.

On lists where cities are actively banning breeds or considering it: Mastiffs, Pit Bulls, Akitas, Huskies, German Shepherd Dogs, Dobermans, Cane Corso's, that's for starters. Some have as many or more than 12 breeds listed!

Is this America where people are supposed to learn to be responsible and can be penalized if they aren't or is it a monarchy where the ruling class tells people what breeds they can or cannot own?

    I think it's crazy.

If three pit bulls did indeed kill a dog that is tragic. Their owners should be penalized. Now they will die because of negligent people.

In any breed, a dog can snap and do damage. A powerful and/or large breed can do more serious damage. Does that mean people shouldn't own them?

A responsible person will socialize and obedience train a powerful dog and keep them adequately contained when they are not supervised.

What is going to happen to the owners of the pit bulls that did this. The dogs might have done the act but the owner is the guilty one. I hate to hear stories like this becasue I know some a$$hole abused or straved or beat or just let run loose what could have been a beauitful pet and now the poor things need to be put down, there is really no ohter choice. The poor owner of the dog killed as lost her baby and I bet the only ones to be punished will be the owner of the dog that was killed and the pit bulls who were never trained to be good dogs.

    Jo...nice.

The term "pit bull" is used to describe several different breeds. If we grouped hunting dogs the same way their attack statistics would bury the pit bull stats. On top of that, the different pit bull breeds are the most misidentified. The problem is, when it is found out later that it wasnt a pit bull that attacked, the media makes no corrections.

I seriously doubt (if this story is true) that the dogs that did the attacking were pit bull types. Pit bulls do not like other dogs and they do not have the pack mentality.

I would also just like to state that the banning of pit bull type dogs has proven that it is not pit bulls causing the problems. There is not a single case of BSL being effective, not one place that has put it into effect has seen a drop in attacks/bites. Boulder Colorado banned pit bulls even though labs were the top biters in the area.

Dog on dog aggression and dog on human aggression are two completely different things. People who assume a dog that attacked another dog or animal will attack people are complete morons with no knowledge of canines.

ahh the wonderful media. Anytime a medium -large short haired does anything wrong it is immediately dubbed a pit bull. Then we responsible owners wonder why we are constantly having to defend our loving dogs and fight BSL

No, but not surprised as that's what pitbulls do instinctively, and they will keep doing it until they're trained properly. Just as well it wasn't a child. The owners should be put in prison.
